South Coast Flame can consider themselves unlucky to have not gone home with all three points last week at Camden. A last minute penalty goal denying Flame the win. On the flip side, the guys put in a solid defensive shift and effectively nullified the Tigers’ attack. Flame created a number of opportunities and there were at least two occasions where the ball incredibly somehow stayed out.

Louis Connell has shown some good form and Flame will be looking to get him in good scoring positions whilst strike partner Gerard Bruscino is working hard upfront with little reward at the moment.

It was great to welcome back Daniel Lucas last week into the fold. Along with Kasey Kulcsar, Carlo Stella and Lachlan Morgan, they kept things tight at the back and goalkeeper Nicholas Armand didn’t really have a lot to do to be fair.

Jack Balmforth was terrific last week and Flame will be looking for him to link up with the midfield and forward line again.

Hawkesbury City last week fell 3-1 to Parramatta and have started the season zero and two. They will be desperate to get their season on track after making the finals last year.

Hawkesbury have some handy players in their squad with the lively Anthony Pedavoli likely to pose a threat to Flame. Gregory Kondek will be looking to control the game from the middle of the park whilst Mark Schwarzer’s brother Daniel is in goal. Daniel is no stranger to local football after a stint at Wollongong United between 2009-2012.

These two sides met just once and that was in the final round of 2020 where Flame will be looking to replicate that having run out 3-1 winners at Ian McLennan Park. A loss here for either side and they will already be facing an uphill battle to keep pace with the pack.

The Under 20’s showed greater character last week before succumbing to Camden 2-0. Coach Michael Panozzo and the team will take heart from that as they look to build off that. The visitors Hawkesbury are coming off a loss to Parramatta last week.
