The South Coast Flame Women’s side fought back from two goals down to share the points with Warillla in a 2-2 draw at King Mickey Park on Sunday.
The Flame came into this weekend’s fixture needing a win after a disappointing loss last week.
The Flame girls started the game slowly but still dominated possession and looked dangerous down the wide areas with aggressive runs from Emily Franklin and Jessica Cruikshank.
A defensive mixup in the Flame backline allowed Warilla to open the scoring through Emily Carbone against the run of play.
The Flame girls went into halftime having dominated the last 10 minutes of play looked up for the battle.
The second half started like the end of the first with Sariah Wilson and Emi Scopal dominating the midfield and creating plenty of chances.
The Warilla side played a long ball into the Flame’s defensive half and again capitalised on a Flame mistake to double the lead.
Shortly after, Caitlin Russel found herself outside the box with time and space sending a sublime finish into the far top right corner.
Looking to restore parity, Monique Koloski found herself one-on-one with the Warilla goalkeeper but was unable to find the net.
South Coast continued to ask questions of the Warilla defence and in the dying embers of the match, a cross found Emily Franklin who eventually scored after a goal-mouth scramble.
The points were shared 2-2 moving Flame onto five points for the season.
