The Under 20 girls continued their perfect start to the 2024 season with an extremely gritty performance that was defined by how quickly they came out of the blocks.

Flame kicked off the first half with some tidy combination play down the right hand side. This resulted in Lisa Prior finding Imogen Woolnough who played a cut back cross which travelled across the 6-yard box to be tapped home by Scarlett Downer for her second goal of the season with barely a minute on the clock.

This kickstarted a common theme in the first half that saw Flame make inroads down the right hand side repeatedly. It was a similar combination for the away side to find their second when a one, two saw Sofia Kent play Prior in beyond once again, who drew the keeper before laying the ball to her left to hand Woolnough a tap in, also scoring her second goal of the season.

The Raiders would find an equaliser before half time and came out in the second term controlling much of the ball. Lili Rosandic’s well struck free kick saw the Flame pull 3-1 ahead, but this was short lived as the Raiders came back within one with 15 minutes to play.

Despite conceding attack after attack, Flame held firm as they eventually held out to win 3-2.
