UNDER 13 BOYS | SOUTH COAST FLAME 0 – 3 ST GEORGE FC
30 JULY 2022 | ILINDEN SPORTS CENTRE
In the opening stages of the game the boys moved the ball around well and created an early opportunity that found the back of the net only for the goal to be disallowed.
Shortly afterwards, St George got on the score board through high pressure on the Flame defenders and a good cross was tapped in on the back post.
St George to be fair were definitely proving to be the dominant side and through Flame’s lack of patience with the ball, St George managed to score a second goal to increase their lead by two.
After a halftime address, the boys came out in the second half and started stronger only to see a long range shot from St George deflected beyond the keeper to put the home side three up.
It was definitely proving to be one of those days for the boys with not much going their way and the opposition in fairness were simply hungrier for the win.
Player of the Week: Harley Bermudez
Harley tried his hardest to get the boys in the game through his physical defending and creativity when in possession of the ball. Well done Harley and well-deserved player of the week.

Flame started the game brightly for the opening quarter and despite controlling possession and creating several chances, the team had nothing to show for it. The team appeared to deviate from the strategy subsequently allowing the home side to get themselves back into the game. Despite, both sides’ chances, it was a scoreless first period.
Flame got back into rhythm in the second period and started to use the space out wide better. This led to goals to Blake Pearson and Levi Dirks who secured a solid three points and got the club something from the day.

UNDER 18 BOYS | SOUTH COAST FLAME 1 – 2 ST GEORGE FC
30 JULY 2022 | ILINDEN SPORTS CENTRE
It was a test of resilience when the Under 18’s took to the field in Rockdale on Saturday afternoon, in a game that could have brought the points home but ended with frustration and disappointment.
The game started slowly, as both teams were looking to move the ball around and find an option. A great shot by Junho Cho in the seventh minute unfortunately hit the post, but the boys kept looking for opportunities and just two minutes later, a pass from Bowen Spencer to Jyden Harb in the middle found his feet and he quickly scored, making it 1-0 to Flame.
Unfortunately, St George kicked off and quickly drove the ball high where their attacker was waiting, and they equalised almost immediately. The game continued with both teams looking to find a space, and at times Flame went close, but St George always answered with a quick counterattack.
The second half continued to be a challenge as St George’s attacking speed tested Flame’s resolve. Antonio Sansone was making good runs and put some wonderful crosses across the goal, however Flame could not get on the end of them.
Flame thought they had snatched a late winner when Will Aston bundled the ball over the line only for it to be ruled offside.
The oppositions strong backline held off any further attacks, and their solid midfield combined with constant pressure on the Flame goal were too much for Flame to overcome.
In the dying minutes of the game, exhaustion and injury were setting in and St George scored a goal bringing resulting in a 1-2 defeat.
It was a disappointing result for the team and coach, but the boys will need to move on and compose themselves ready for next week’s big game at home against NWS Spirit FC, who sit second on the ladder.
Player of the Week: Antonio Sansone
Worked tirelessly throughout the game and constantly threatened the St George defence in attack.
