A big weekend ahead for all age groups, with all of our senior and youth squads facing away trips to different parts of Sydney

SENIOR MEN

Nepean FC vs South Coast Flame

Saturday 21st May

Cook Park

U/20: 5pm

First Grade 7pm

Nepean FC will come up against South Coast Flame on Saturday, as two of the most in-form sides in the league face off at Cook Park.

Nepean’s astonishing winning streak was brought to an end in a 3-2 defeat against league leaders Hurstville FC last Saturday night.

Prior to the match, Nepean had won their last four games and had been on an unbeaten run of seven matches, with their last loss coming in round one against Hawkesbury City.

Only Newcastle Jets have been able to sustain a similar kind of streak this season, as the only team yet to lose a match so far this campaign.

Nepean will be looking to bounce back and lay the foundations for a similar run with a victory over South Coast Flame, who have also been in good form.

The away side for this match has won three out of the last five matches, including their last trio of games at home having scored 10 goals in the process.

However, they’ll be away on Saturday and will look to find their first win of the season out of Wollongong in an interesting match on Saturday night.

A win for the U/20’s on Saturday evening against 10th-placed Nepean will solidify their spot in the top five. They sit just four points off the top of the table UNSW with a game in hand, and have lost just one of their last five fixtures.

The Senior Men also have a catch up game against Parramatta Eagles next Tuesday night at Melita Stadium so a big set of games coming up to round off the fist half of the season.

SENIOR WOMEN

SD Raiders vs South Coast Flame

Sunday 22nd May

Ernie Smith Reserve

U/20: 2:15pm

First Grade: 4:10pm

SD Raiders FC look to defend fortress Ernie Smith Reserve again when they host South Coast Flame FC on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts rebounded well from their mid-week loss with a 3-1 win against Nepean FC in last week’s Match of the Round. South Coast Flame FC went down in by the odd goal, 3-2 against Gladesville Ravens on Saturday afternoon.

SD Raiders FC are comfortable in the top four and look set for a challenge to the finals and possibly even further. Alongside their strike duo of Trudy Camilleri and Rojin Polat, they have Milica Aleksic finding the back of the net regularly which makes them a tough out for any team.

South Coast Flame FC sit in tenth spot and have had some good moments in their first season in the League One Womens competition. Caley Tallon-Henniker and Alexis Malizis have been solid performers in recent weeks and will need to be monitored by the SD Raiders FC defence.

The U/20’s sit in 11th, a similar position to first grade currently. They face another tough test this weekend when they take on a Raiders outfit firmly entrenched in the top five.

YOUTH BOYS

St George City vs South Coast Flame

Sunday 22nd May

Penshurst Park

U/13: 12pm

U/14: 1:35pm

U/15: 3:10pm

U/16: 4:45pm

U/18: 6:30pm

Our youth boys will be looking to back-up an excellent weekend last week as they make the trip up the M1 to face St George City. The youth boys program suffered just one defeat across nine games last week, and will be looking to build nicely as we move into the second half of the season.

The U/13’s sit just one point behind St George, despite having four games in hand over them. They will be looking to move even further up the ladder once they play their catch up games, and are well in truly in the finals hunt with all sides above them having already played several games more than the Flame.

The U/14’s face a big test this weekend as they face third placed St George. This age group is in a similar position to the U/13’s in that catch-up wins will see them firmly in the hunt for a top five spot.

The U/15’s are firmly entrenched in the top five, despite teams above them already playing more games. They face a stern test this weekend when they face top of the table St George.

The U/16’s will look to pick up the points against St George, who are a point behind the Flame despite already playing two more games. A win this weekend and in their catch-up game will see them go agonisingly close to the top five

Finally, the U/18’s will be looking to make it four wins in a row when they face top of the table St George. The Flame sit just two points outside of the top five despite having games in hand.

YOUTH GIRLS

SD Raiders vs South Coast Flame

Sunday 22nd May

Ernie Smith Reserve

U/14: 9:30am

U/15: 11:05am

U/16: 12:25pm

The Youth girls face a big test this weekend as our injury-depleted sides make the trip to Ernie Smith Reserve.

With several players missing, the U/14’s will be looking for their third win of the season over the 8th placed Raiders.

The U/15’s fought valiantly last weekend, but unfortunately suffered a one-goal defeat. Several injuries in key positions will make it tough, but they will be determined to grab a win against the 7th placed Raiders.

Perhaps unlucky to get a win last weekend, the U/16’s will look to grab a win against the Raiders – who sit just three points ahead of the Flame. Flame will look to rise up against their injury woes to find points here.
