It’s a busy weekend for most teams this weekend, as our youth boys face a trip up to Sydney, while our senior men, senior women, youth girls, and a second game for our youth boys will be hosted at the Furnace.

SENIOR MEN

South Coast Flame vs Fraser Park

Saturday 14th May

Ian McLennan Park

U/20: 5:15pm

First Grade: 7:15pm

South Coast Flame will take on Fraser Park on Saturday night, with Flame looking for their third win in four matches.

South Coast Flame went down to Newcastle Jets 4-1 last Sunday, but prior to that found form with victories over Camden Tigers and Hurstville FC respectively to propel themselves to seventh on the table. They matched it with the Jets for the best part of that game before a devastating 10 spell saw the match turn on its head.

They’ll be looking to build on their form in the last few weeks with a victory over Fraser Park at The Furnace, after stunning Camden and Hurstville at home 5-1 and 3-1 respectively. Flame however will need to bury the stat that they have never beaten Fraser Park and based on current form, this is a great opportunity for Flame.

Meanwhile, Fraser Park may not have continued on from their opening win of the campaign in terms of results, but they’ve troubled two of the top six sides in recent weeks with good performances.

They’ve gone down 2-1 and 1-0 to Prospect United and Hurstville FC in their last two matches, but have pressured both sides, and will be looking to put in a similarly positive performance against South Coast, with a more productive result.

Flame’s U/20’s sit inside the top five in what is a very congested competition, with third and tenth place separated by just four points – though most of the sides below the Flame have played more fixtures. Flame were a little unlucky last week drawing with competition heavyweights The Jets, but a win this weekend against ninth-placed Fraser Park as well as wins in their catch up games could see Flame nestled inside the top three.

SENIOR WOMEN

South Coast Flame vs Gladesville Ravens

Saturday 14th May

Ian McLennan Park

U/20: 1:15pm

First Grade: 3:15pm

We’re back with some Saturday afternoon football when Gladesville Ravens travel to Ian McLennan Park to face South Coast Flame FC.

Coming off a disappointing 4-2 loss to Northbridge Bulls FC last week, South Coast Flame FC will be keen to get back into the winner’s circle. They will face a blistering Gladesville Ravens side who won 2-0 against Mt Druitt Town Rangers.

South Coast Flame FC are in tenth place and remain in the hunt for the finals fight as we almost turn the corner for the second half of the season. Rachelle Wang has her shooting boots on recently and will need them against the high-flying Ravens.

It is just business as usual for Gladesville Ravens. They are sat comfortable in second spot with a huge midweek contest against SD Raiders FC to deal with in a busy week. Their attack is firing on all cylinders and will make it a tough game for the hosts.

After falling to the top of the table Bulls last weekend, the task doesn’t get any easier for the U/20’s as they take on the Ravens who are just a point behind Northbridge in second. Flame will look to shake things up and spring an upset on Saturday afternoon.

U/14: 6pm (Tuesday 17th May)

U/15: 2:40pm

U/16: 4:15pm

U/18: 6pm

Our youth boys will go into this weekend’s double-header with all the confidence in the world after a very positive display in Lake Macquarie last weekend against the high-flying Newcastle Jets.

Despite narrowly going down last weekend, the U/13’s will look to build on a positive display which received plaudits from the opposition. A win over ninth-placed Prospect could see this squad well positioned in the top five by the weekend’s end.

The U/14’s also suffered a narrow lost against the Jets last weekend. Two wins over Prospect and Parramatta this week will see them move up the table nicely.

The U/15’s showed they can mix it with the best after their 4-2 win last weekend. They face 13th and 16th placed Prospect and Parramatta this weekend, with a win in both games potentially having them knocking on the door of the top five.

A thunderbolt in the second half of the U/16’s fixture last weekend ensured that the Flame left Newcastle with a point. Two wins against the two teams chasing the Flame this weekend will see the Flame move up the table nicely.

A brilliant result last weekend saw the U/18’s defeat the previously top-of-the-table Jets in a brilliant 4-2 win. Two wins this weekend could see the Flame pushing ever so close to the top five spots.

YOUTH GIRLS

South Coast Flame vs Gladesville Ravens

Saturday 14th May

Ian McLennan Park

U/14: 8:20am

U/15: 9:55am

U/16: 11:30am

Our youth girls will want to bounce back at home this weekend after a tough day out up in Northbridge last weekend.

The U/14’s face fifth-placed Gladesville and will be looking to pick up their third win of the season.

The U/15’s suffered their largest loss of the year last weekend against the top of the table Bulls. Despite letting in four goals last week, the side has the fourth-best defensive record in the competition.

The U/16’s were well in the contest against the Bulls last week before a flurry of goals from Northbridge saw the Flame defeated. They face the third-placed Ravens who are coming off a big win against Camden.
