All South Coast Flame sides are back in action this weekend with our Men’s and Mixed SAP squads at home this weekend
SENIOR MEN
South Coast Flame vs Camden Tigers
Saturday 23rd April
Ian McLennan Park
U/20: 3:30pm
First Grade: 5:30pm
South Coast Flame will take on a refreshed Camden Tigers in the first fixture on Saturday, with the latter coming off a bye in round six.
South Coast Flame were beaten by an 88th minute strike from Luke Zepina last weekend, after impressively drawing scores level after being down 2-0 at halftime.
Both Camden Tigers and South Coast Flame have scored in every League Three Men’s match they’ve played in so far this season, but neither team has managed to keep a clean sheet.
Camden Tigers won their most recent match against Western Rage, and will be looking to make it two consecutive wins for the first time this campaign, while South Coast Flame are looking for their first victory of the season.
Jayden Russel has three goals in his last two matches – including a brace in their previous game – and could be one to watch for Camden on the goalscoring front this weekend.
The U/20’s on the other hand could be in the top five as early as this weekend, should they win against fourth-placed Camden. The squad currently has games in hand against all sides above them and are just three points outside of the finals places. Camden however will provide tough opposition this week. If Flame can keep it tight defensively this week, they are in with a good shout.
SENIOR WOMEN
St George FC vs South Coast Flame
Sunday 24th April
Fraser Park
U/20: 1:05pm
First Grade: 3:00pm
St George FC look to get back into the winner’s circle against South Coast Flame FC down at Fraser Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints fell to their third straight defeat after a close 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners in their Easter Sunday clash. South Coast Flame FC reignited their season with their 3-1 success against Blacktown City FC on Easter Saturday.
After their hot start to the season, St George FC have hit a rough patch with their results and piling up the injuries and absences in their three-game skid. They have also faced three of their tougher opponents so coach Mark Cupitt will be relieved to be facing the Flame this weekend.
South Coast Flame FC just want to keep the fire they had burning last weekend carry over into this contest, and possibly spring an upset. Rachelle Wang and Sariah Wilson have found the back of the net recently and look to continue their form. Flame still have a very winnable game in hand.
The U/20’s are in an almost identical situation to our First Grade in that a win this weekend, along with a win in the Mount Druitt catch-up game, will see them level with St George – who are currently occupying fifth place. This weekend’s game shapes up as a big one for the U/20’s.
YOUTH BOYS
NWS Spirit vs South Coast Flame
Saturday 23rd April
Christie Park
U/13: 8:30am
U/14: 10:05am
U/15: 11:40am
U/16: 1:15pm
U/18: 3pm
Our Youth boys make the long trip up to Christie Park on Saturday morning to take on NWS Spirit FC
Our U/13’s face a massive test in the opening game as they take on second-placed Spirit, who are just two points off the top of the table with two games in hand over the first-placed Newcastle Jets. The Flame currently sit in sixth, just one point outside of the top five with two games in hand over fifth-placed Bankstown United. A win here would be massive for the squad and will put them in the top five.
The U/14’s will look to push away from the foot of the ladder this weekend as they take on 10th-placed Spirit. A win here would see the U/14’s overtake Spirit on the ladder.
It’s a crucial game in the U/15’s with Spirit just one spot behind the Flame on the ladder, and just one point behind. A win here could see the Flame jump up into as high as seventh.
The U/16’s are just three points outside of the top five with two games in hand on fifth-placed Bankstown United. They take on a Spirit side just three points behind in 12th.
Finally, the U/18’s will face a tough test against fifth-placed Spirit. The squad has a few games in hand on the sides around them, and a win here will see their points tally build up nicely.
YOUTH GIRLS
St George FC vs South Coast Flame
Sunday 24th April
Fraser Park
U/14: 8:20am
U/15: 9:55am
U/16: 11:25am
It’s a big weekend for our youth girls this weekend, as they take on St George who are firmly entrenched in the top six in all age groups.
The U/14’s will take confidence out of their performance against second-placed Blacktown City last weekend, with a number of GSAP players featuring and starring last weekend. They take on St George in sixth who are two points outside of the top five.
The U/15’s take on fourth-placed St George in a big fixture. The U/15’s will be just two points outside of the top five with a game in hand, should they win this game, before their catch-up fixture against Mount Druitt in the coming weeks.
Our U/16’s are coming off a clinical 3-0 win against Blacktown last week, with Alivia Beath starring with a hat-trick. The squad is eight points outside of the top five with three games in hand, and wins in all three of these games will see the squad jump into the top five. They take on a St George side six points ahead of them with three games in hand.
