Match Reports, SOMETHING ELSE

South Coast Flame secured their first official win of the season on Sunday night with a 5-1 drubbing of Wollongong United courtesy of five first-half goals at Ian McLennan Park.

Flame came out with total conviction and tenacity from the starting whistle.

Within the first minute, Emi Skopal and Caitlin Russel pressed hard leading to a turnover.

The ball was played to Sariah Wilson who finished it with finesse from range, past the out of position United goalkeeper.

The second goal came from a penalty well earned by a rampaging Wilson driving down the left side.

Brooke Love stepped up to convert the penalty, driving it low and hard to the right of the goalkeeper who managed to get a glove to it.

Love then finished a corner combining with her teammate.

3-0 and the Flame were gaining momentum and were looking hard to beat defensively.

After quick combination down the right and left flanks, Jess Cruikshank and Wilson made it 5-0 at the break.

The second half saw the Flame manage the game, only conceding one goal after a through ball by the United midfield.

5-1 was the final score and a well-earned three points.
