Match Reports

The Flame look set to have another difficult task this weekend as they travel to face Parramatta FC in Round 5 of the NPL 4 NSW Men’s competition on Saturday.

Parramatta have had a flying to start to this season winning their opening three games which sees them in second place only behind leaders Newcastle Jets on goal difference.

Charles Abou Serhal and Adrian Epifanino have been on fire for the side scoring three goals each so far.

Parramatta will be coming into this game with a lot of confidence after a 7-2 win against Western NSW.

The sides had a 2-2 draw in 2020 with Justin Smith and Matt Mazevski on the scoresheet for the Flame that day.

The Flame will be hoping history repeats itself on Saturday, however, they will need to dust themselves down after last weekend’s defeat to Nepean.

Despite Flame being on just one point from their opening three games, there have been some encouraging signs however they will need to step it up playing away to the high-flying Eagles.

Coach George Kulcsar has been toying with formations and combinations at training this week and it will be interesting whether any of these are used on the weekend.

The under-20s continued their difficult start to the campaign falling to their third defeat successive defeat.

There were positives signs, however, as the side did get their first goal of the season with Dany Elhamra finding the net last week.

Parramatta sit third in the under-20s competition having not lost since their first match – most recently defeating Western NSW 5-1 last weekend.

Flame may just be optimistic heading into this one with their opponents yet to win at home this season.
