Both teams are coming off last round losses and neither side will want to start the season off nil and two even at this early stage of the year, so this is an important game.
Flame were dismantled by an enthusiastic and efficient Jets side that will be hard to beat this year. It wasn’t the start George Kulcsar and his chargers were hoping for and they will need to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and start over again as they travel to Ron Dine Oval this Saturday. Flame didn’t really play all that bad however when the opposition enjoys more than their fair share of possession, one is always going to be on the back foot.
Camden on the other hand were edged out 1-0 to Parramatta Eagles in what was a physical and at times fiery match that saw nine players cautioned and one sent off. Camden created chances but were unable to convert as the Eagles took all three points. The Tigers have a bit of a new look side in 2021 with a couple of familiar faces from Picton in Jarrod Morley and Mitchell Hall wearing the orange this year. Danny Martinez has also been a good pick up as he is likely to be pulling the strings as Camden hope to make Ron Dine Oval their fortress.
The clubs have only ever officially met once and that was last year. Camden took that match 3-1 at home as they finished the season well. They will be hoping to continue that form this week.
We will need to wait and see whether Kulcsar sticks to the same line up this week or whether he tweaks it a little but one thing is certain, those playing this week will not want to see a repeat of last week so we can expect a stronger performance from Flame this week.
The Under 20 last week were effectively taught a football lesson and they take on a side that also registered a last start win. Flame’s Youth were never really allowed to settle into the game and the Jets were ruthless in putting their chances away. This one is one the boys would rather forget and what better way to forget it than “getting back on the horse” so to speak.
