14 Boys: Central Coast United 0-0 South Coast Flame
Flame started with good intensity and aggression with Alex Bosevski and Ollie Green linking well down the right and causing havoc for the opposition, however we couldn’t find the perfect delivery or the final touch in the box to get the goal we deserved.
Deakin Henry ensured we kept a clean sheet at the back, pulling of some nice saves to keep the opposition out.
The second half was an even affair, Ben Parry narrowly offsided in a couple of good plays seemed to sum up our day of playing plenty of good football without the goal to support it.
Player of the week: Alex Bosevski
Alex caused a lot of havoc down the right wing. Was confident and brave in taking on his player and delivered several dangerous balls into the box. Worked hard in defence to force several turnovers as well.
15 Boys: Central Coast United 1-2 South Coast Flame
The boys started strongly and were rewarded with two goals in the first half.
A well worked free kick saw Jake Ueda deliver a perfect cross for Jake Morris to head in at the far post.
Jake Morris then turned provider with a well timed through ball for Ryley Dwyer to run on and slot it past the keeper.
Central Coast came out in the second half determined to get back into the game, putting pressure on us and scoring from the penalty spot. We stayed strong for a 2-1 win and nice drive home.
Player of the week: Jake Ueda
Consistent strong performances along with scoring for the U/16s
16 Boys: Central Coast United 2-3 South Coast Flame
For the first 20 minutes, the team played the best they have all year.
We high pressed Central Coast and they found it difficult to get out from the back. We held possession well and moved the ball from left to right and right to left and Central Coast didn’t come close to getting possession.
Against the run of play, Central Coast won a penalty and scored. The boys stuck to the game plan and Yoan Cuigureanu was able to equalize with a header on the far post from a corner.
We should have score at least two more with several goal-line scrambles, but we went into half time at 1-1.
We played well in the second half with Blake Pearson making a good run down the wing, crossing for Nick Cadorin to make it 2-1.
Jake Ueda came on as a sub and scored a great goal on the half volley to make it 3-1, before Central Coast scored late to make it 3-2.
The midfield of Mitch Despotovski, Cassidy Marr, Oscar Lambie and Jake Morris did exceptionally well with big performances.
Player of the week: Loan Cuigureanu
Loan pressed well in the front third, was positive going forward and scored a goal |
18 Boys: Central Coast United 2-0 South Coast Flame
This week we travelled to the Central Coast to take on a team that has historically provided plenty of challenges. United took the points in the first round match and the Flame were keen to even the ledger.
Flame made a very promising start to the game and pressed hard in the opening stanza, resulting in several shots on goal but without a result.
It was against the run of play in the fifth minute that Central Coast pushed forward on the left flank. A misdirected clearance by the Flame defence was quickly collected by United and their striker was left in the clear to execute a well-directed shot inside the far post.
Despite being a goal down, the Flame were the more enterprising of the two teams in the first half. Flame dominated possession and territory and played attacking football. Numerous crosses into the box were securely dealt with by the United defence and at the break, the score remained 0-1.
The Flame continued their dominance with the ball as the second half developed. Great chances opened for Will Aston, Antonio Sansone and Noah Duarte but a goal remained elusive. The United keeper was proving to be a formidable custodian.
As the possession started to even out, it was Junho Cho in the midfield who played an integral role with keeping Flame in control. Jay De Gouveia and Louis Miller-Tamsitt also worked hard to create scoring opportunities.
Despite our efforts, time became the enemy. We pressed hard but it wasn’t to be our day. United converted a last-minute free kick as the Flame went down 0-2.
Player of the week: Junho Cho
Junho worked tirelessly in closing down and intercepting a lot of the Central Coast counter attacks through the midfield.
